How in the world????

So this has been an exciting weekend for the family. Coleman has had a little cough for a couple of days last week. Saturday night he had a 104 degree fever and trouble breathing. When the fever went down he wasn't panting for air anymore. Instacare TOTALLY dropped the ball when I took him there. They told me it was a virus and they couldn't do anything. Well he had been fine all morning today so I went to lunch with a friend and his fever spiked and the gasping for air started again. So I ran him to his doctor. His fever was 105 degrees. The nurse at the doctor took his temperature 3 times because she didn't believe it. Turns out Coleman has pneumonia!! How in the world does a 2 year old get pneumonia!!!??? Its not like he licks grocery carts or eats food off the ground like one of his older brothers who shall remain nameless. (Walker) Needless to say after 2 antiobiotic shots at the doctor and another antibiotic to take at home he is doing MUCH better. Thank goodness, maybe I can actually get some sleep tonight.

Little Boys are made of frogs and snails and puppy dog tails

I know that this is an old picture but since Jackson and Walker aren't around much during the day I don't have many pictures of them. Jackson is in school and Walker goes outside everyday at 9 am to play with friends and doesn't come home until the afternoon. If Walker was wearing clothes guaranteed it would be his batman and transformer shirt and flip-flops. It is now getting chilly and the kid refuses to give up his flip-flops and wear a coat. Because of the shoe thing I will totally claim this child. How can I tell him that he can't wear them when I wore flip-flops today. Jackson has discovered his love for sassing me. I must say he is pretty good at pushing my buttons and he is only six. Makes me so excited for when he is a teenager......NOT.

Some babies have issues when you put them on their stomach for "tummy time". Landon hates to not be on his stomach. He cries and cries when you put him on his back. Unfortunately he will only sleep on his stomach as well. This is a picture of him smiling because he won and we took him out of bed and put him on a blanket with some toys. They sure learn to play their parents when they are small. Troy and I are both wrapped around his finger.

Coleman LOVES to play sports of any kind. The kid insists on sleeping with this Ohio State hat and his baseball mitt. He will hit the ball off the tee in our front yard for hours. However, lately he will not play any sport unless he wears these Mr. Potato head glasses while he plays. Maybe it is because he is a complete Daddy's boy and Troy wears glasses. Or maybe it is just because he is so weird. My mom could not stop laughing at him this week. The first thing he does when he wakes up in the morning is find these glasses. He won't do anything else until he can put them on. Then he finds his mitt and starts throwing balls at everyone and everything. I am so surprised that Landon has made it 5 months with no serious injury.

I have a very obsessive compulsive child. This dot on his forehead is just one of the weird things that he does. A friend was watching him for me about a month ago and her son put this paper dot on his forehead, at the time it was sticky, and he wore it there for the rest of the day. Now he refuses to let us throw it away. He finds it, insists on sticking it to his forehead and sings "Ta-Da". Who knew a purple paper dot would make such a huge impression?

Life In General

So here it is 6:30 in the morning and I am sitting here in the dark with nothing better to do so I decided I would update this here blog. I will never be as good at this as my sister Heather who manages to update every Sunday. Even when she has a baby the same day. Props to you Heather. My week hasn't been too exciting. I had my surgery on Tuesday so most of my week has been laying in bed and listening to my children behind closed doors. Which I must admit has been both nice and stressful. Troy has been great and took 3.5 days off of work to help take care of me. He has been a great nurse always bringing my pills and changing the ice for my knee. I told him he should have been a nurse, he didn't think that was too funny. But he has managed to keep the house and kids together and I give him all the credit. Which is why I am out here this early. He has gotten up with every kid every night all night. I think he can't wait to go back to work on Monday. So since I am doing so much better I am out here with the baby so he can sleep. My surgery went well. I can already tell a difference in the pain. My knee doesn't hurt like it used to, now I can only feel surgical pain. So I am very optimistic that I can start to exercise again eventually. I still can't really bend my knee, but that will come. So yeah!!

Since I haven't really been around my kids I don't have a lot of funny stories but here are a few. Coleman loves to brush his teeth. He can't reach the sink to get his toothbrush wet, so he discovered a different way to get water on his toothbrush. Yes, I caught him dipping his toothbrush in the toilet and then sticking it in his mouth. I threw 3 toothbrushes away that day and put a childlock on the bathroom door. Walker loves to watch sports with Troy and is always asking which team is winning and what team is what color. That is fine except on Saturdays Troy is watching 5 football games at one time. Walker thinks they are all Ohio State and can't understand why they aren't always playing. Jackson is too smart for his own good. He has turned into a really great reader which is a good and bad thing. I can no longer summarize bedtime stories because he knows when I don't read all the words and calls me on it. So he picks the longest stories possible and makes me read everyword. I need to think of a solution to this because last night I spent 20 minutes reading a bedtime story. And Landon is a whopping eleven pounds. I took him to the doctor for his 4 month appointment and he is in the 2% for his weight. That is us in a nutshell. I will do pictures next time when I am not typing in the dark.

Shotty Knee

This will be a post where I feel the need to vent. So feel free to ignore this post. I don't know if these issues come from mom's side of the family or my dad's. But whoever you are thanks SO much. For those of you who know me well, you know that I had some knee problems with my knees requiring arthroscopic surgery on both of them. And some of you may know that those problems have come back and then some. After trying some conservative methods to alleviate the pain (braces, therapy and medication) they were not succesful. Which means I need to have surgery to fix some problems and try to figure out what is causing all the pain. It is never a good sign when your doctor walks in and tells you that you shouldn't be having these problems because you are only 31 years old. I guess surgery is a bittersweet thing because as much fun as surgery is not, it will be nice to walk without pain. The thing I worry the most about is how in the heck I am going to take care of and keep up with 4 boys with only one knee. Oh well, wish me luck in the next few weeks.

A New Best Friend

Winnie the Pooh has been replaced. Coleman has a new best friend in the form of a plastic blue stepping stool. He has been carrying it around with him everywhere for the past couple of days. Why you may be asking yourself?? Because he realized that he can get into ANYTHING with this stool, and believe me he can. He got into his brother's piggy banks. Today he ate half of a 4lbs package of grapes from Costco, and almost touched the stove while I was making salsa. I also caught him using it to drink toilet water. He is going to be a fun one, and he isn't even two.
Going back to the staples story, he had quite the day today. He put his tooth through his lip, got run over by a bike, and fell on his head. All of these incidents drew blood. I tell you, life with boys especially this one is NEVER boring.

Staples aren't only for paper

Today was going to be a very busy day with physical therapy appointments for me, picking up the school carpool, birthday parties, soccer games and softball games. Don't you love when you have a crazy busy day something always happens to throw a kink in your well planned day. Troy called me at my therapy appointment and asked if I could come home. Coleman had fallen and cut his head and it was bleeding badly. For those of you who know Troy you know he HA TES blood and gets grossed out with anything medical. The man didn't see any of his kids come into the world. I come home as quick as I can take one look at Coleman grab a book and we are off to the nearest instacare. He got to wear a nice blue headband while they numbed his head. And the only time that he cried was when they made him lie down on the table so they could clean out the cut. He got two staples to close his head. The best part for him was when they gave him the syringe they used to clean his wound. He now has his own squirt gun, and the sucker wasn't so bad either. The best part is trying to find out what happened. Walker was outside with him, and keeps changing the story because he thinks he will get in trouble. By piecing together bits and pieces we think Coleman was climbing up the swingset ladder and fell through the opening and landing on a paving stone. We are lucky it wasn't worse. When we were leaving the instacare the dr. told me this was life with a boy. When I told him that I had 4 he offered me the staple gun. I should have taken him up on it. It would have saved me a lot of money on copays in the future. Oh well.
